There are so many firsts in the world we’re expected to do.  We don’t all do the same firsts.  Every one of us doing things a little differently.  I happen to be one in my family to do a couple firsts that haven’t been done.  Not all of them are to be proud of by any means, but there are some I take to heart.

I was married within a month of graduating high school.  I know I’m young (as that was in 2009), but I knew he was the one I was going to marry within the first two weeks of dating.  We met through work at my first job…Taco Bell.  We started dating January 1, 2008, just a little while into the new year.  He was the only one I really dated, and I never thought of it as dating.  What’s the point of dating if obviously you’re not going to get married?

So, we got married in June.  In October, we found out I was preggo.  We we’re nervous of course because we weren’t in the best situation to have kids, but we were going to bring them into the world anyway.  A week after finding out I was preggo in the first place, we found out there wasn’t just one in there, but two.  My wishes for twins came true.  And no, twins don’t run in the family, they were a totally unexpected, yet totally awesome surprise gifts from God.  We were married less than a year when boy/girl twins were born.  God got us through the tough times as we adjusted from just being married to expecting.  During the pregnancy, a blood test said one or both of them could have an open neural tube.  With lots of prayer from churchs everywhere, God kept them safe.  He gave us “God Spots” (as my dad calls the) on both Mach (pronounced “mac”) and Mari (pronounced “mar-ee”).  Mari looks like she got her ear pierced where the skin at the top of her ear  meets near her hairline.  It was one of the first things I noticed when I got to hold her in the labor room.  I didn’t get to see Mach’s God Spot til he was four months.  I saw him on his belly after a bath, and right above his crack, the same kind of “pierced” look Mari’s God Spot had, just deeper.  Mach and Mari are a testament to God’s healing, even before they were out of the womb.  All I have to do is look at my precious twins to see the miracle of life, how fragile it is, yet how caring God is and the plan He has for their life.

Those are just a couple of the firsts compared to my family.   While things have gotten hard around me, I still hold to the faith I have in God to get me through.  This has by no means been easy.  I’ve been seperated from my husband by circumstance and have had to endure quite some time taking care of Mach and Mari without him.  It grates on me, this being apart when God has called us to be together.  There are a few good things that have come from this seperation, cheifly my hubby coming to realize he wasn’t truly a son of God, and committing his life to Christ.  I’m not sure what would’ve happened had we not been put through this trial, trudging through this never-ending valley of shadows.  God has given me promises of great things to come that can only happen with my hubby.  God doesn’t want anybody to go through divorce, but He won’t condemn you either.

Through this hardship, we’re doing another first.  My hubby’s side has been cursed by divorce.  His mother has twice and each aunt and his uncle have had a divorce.  This curse has translated to two of his cousins, the only two that were married before us.  I’m happy and sad at the same time to be the first in his family that will not divorce.  I wish we didn’t have to be the first, but I will not let this curse continue in my family any longer!

I know this a lengthier post, but it has to get out there.  For this being the end of my first post, I leave you with a few verses and some things to think about.

Psalm 91:11 NIV
For He will command His angels concerning you
       to guard you in all your ways;

Psalm 119:9-11 NIV
How can a young person stay on the path of purity?
    By living according to Your word.
I seek You with all my heart;
    do not let me stray from Your commands.
I have hidden Your Word in my heart
    that I might not sin against You.

I leave you to think about His guarding you with not just one angel, but several.  And let us learn His Word so we may took it away in our hearts and not sin against Him.
